Ernest Douglas Edward Isaacson died at Mato, Congo-Belge, on August 21st, 1914, aged 34 years.
From 1903 to 1906 he studied mining at the Thames School of Mines and Otago University School of Mines, N.Z., obtaining the Associateship of the latter school, and at the same time and subsequently was engaged in general mining work at Waihi and Nelson, N.Z.
During the years 1907 and 1908 he was mine surveyor and assayer to the Maoriland Copper Co., N.Z., and in the following year was appointed surveyor to the Bibiani, Ltd., West Africa.
In 1910, he went to the Congo on a prospecting expedition. He returned home early in 1913 and left again for the Congo about the middle of the year.
Mr. Isaacson was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1906, and was transferred to Associateship in 1911.
