Frederick Osmond Harvey died on October 11th, 1913, at the age of 59.
After undergoing a course of technical training in Cornwall, he was engaged on the mines of Messrs. Mason & Barry, Ltd., at San Domingo [São Domingos], Portugal, where he remained for a considerable number of years, and was gradually advanced until he became general manager of the mines. Later he became consulting engineer to the company, in which capacity he paid frequent visits to the mines. He was also consulting engineer for the San Miguel mines at Huelva, Spain, and the Peña copper mines.
In 1893 Mr. Harvey accepted an appointment in Colorado as manager of the Twin Lakes gold mine, which position he held for about ten years. He had also reported on mines in Portugal, Spain, the United States and New Zealand. For several years prior to the date of his death he was a partner in the firm of Harvey & Wilbraham in London.
Mr. Harvey was elected a Member of the Institution in 1902.
