Eric James Howard-Wright died at Chocaya, Bolivia, on September 18th, 1940, in his 60th year.
On leaving Harrow School, he entered at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he obtained the degree of B.A. in mechanical science. In 1903 he took a course in mining at the Camborne School of Mines, and was for two years subsequently employed by the Bunny Tin and Wolfram Mine, Ltd., St. Austell, Cornwall.
In 1906, he designed and erected milling plant and took over the management of the property of the Concordia Tin Mine of Bolivia, Ltd., and three years later he was appointed manager of the Chorolque tin, Wolfram and bismuth mines, in Bolivia, on behalf of Messrs. Aramayo, Francke & Co., Ltd. Later, he started working mines on his own account in Bolivia, and became the owner of several mining properties.
Mr. Howard-Wright was elected a Member of the Institution in 1912.
