Philip Grimley died at Westminster Hospital, London, S.W., on January 21st, 1942, in his 71st year.
He received his technical education at Camborne School of Mines and was awarded the first-class certificate. In 1906 he went to Mexico as a field geologist in the oilfields department of Messrs. S. Pearson & Son, where he was employed for four years.
After a brief engagement as sampler for the Central Mining and Investment Corporation, Ltd., he went to Nigeria, where he was successively engaged on the properties of the Nigerian Tin Corporation, Buduma Tin Mines, Gudi River Areas, Plateau Areas of Nigerian Tin Corporation, and Rishi Areas of Tin Areas of Nigeria, Ltd., until April, 1917, when he joined H.M. Forces and held a commission in the Royal Engineers. On demobilization early in 1919, he returned to Nigeria to the Due. Tin Fields, and he remained in West Africa for some years.
Mr. Grimley was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1906, and was elected as Associate in 1910.
