Edwin Edwards died on May 1st, 1941, at the age of 73.
After a brief experience at sea, he adopted the mining profession, and from 1886 to 1893 he was engaged on prospecting, mining and battery work in South Africa and Madagascar, followed by four years of prospecting, mining and management of various mines in Western Australia.
In 1900 he went to the Bibiani and Bokitsi mines, Gold Coast, where he was engaged until 1905. In 1907 he was appointed manager of the Porvenir Mine, Colombia, but two years later was engaged in prospecting in Northern Nigeria and in 1910 was appointed manager of Nigerian Plateau, Limited, Kuskie Tin Fields, Limited, and Kwall Tin Fields of Nigeria, Limited.
Returning to England in 1917, he was until the end of the war representative for Lincolnshire under the Controller for Iron and Steel Production, Ministry of Munitions.
In 1921 he went to Peru to examine and report on La Cota, bambas Auraria Mines, and two years later was engaged in prospecting for diamonds on the Gold Coast for the West African Diamond Syndicate, Limited. From 1925 to 1927 he was manager of the Tanganyika Exploration, Limited, and from the latter date to 1932 he was general manager of the Prah Timber and Development Company, Limited, on the Gold Coast. From 1932 onwards he was engaged in sundry work of a consultative character.
Mr. Edwards was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1913 and was transferred to Membership in 1917.
