Thomas Ingleby Dyson died at Melbourne, Australia, on August 18th, 1943, at the age of 75.

He received his technical training at Owens College, Manchester, and the Freiberg Bergacademie, and in 1888 went to Queensland to take up a post as assayer at the Mt. Perry Gold & Copper Co. After working for eight years in a similar capacity on various Queensland plants he was in 1896 appointed superintendent of the chlorination plant of the Mount Morgan Gold Mining Co.

In 1898 he became manager of the smelting works at Aldershot, Queensland, and in 1900 left to join the staff of the ‘Lloyd’ Copper Co. first as metallurgist in charge of the smelting plant, and later as general manager.

In 1903 he set up in practice as a consulting engineer, but two years later was appointed general manager of the Northern Territory Mines of Australia. In 1910 he left this company and resumed his private practice, in which he continued until his death.

Mr. Dyson was elected a Member of the Institution in 1903; he was a foundation member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
