Thomas William Teague Curnoe died at Newquay on August 17th, 1918, aged 32 years.
He obtained his scientific training at the Organized School of Science, at Truro, where he was subsequently employed as laboratory assistant and assayer for nearly three years.
From 1905 to 1907, he was working in British Columbia, as engineer to the Crow’s Nest Pass Coal Mining Co.; and thence he proceeded to West Africa, where for a year he held the post of amalgamator to the Wassau Gold Coast Mining Co., Ltd. In 1908 he went to the Republic of Colombia to take up a position as cyanide manager and assistant mill manager to the Frontino and Bolivia Gold Mining Co. He remained here for three years, when he returned home and spent another three years at Newquay. In 1914, he went back to West Africa, and maintained his connection with that country until the end of 1917, when he met with a serious accident, which necessitated his return to England and which terminated fatally in August, 1918. He leaves a widow and three young children.
Mr. Curnoe was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1910 and was transferred to Associateship in 1911.
