Corin Henry Benedict Cooper died of wounds received in action in France on November 20th, 1917, aged 25 years. Shortly after the outbreak of war he enlisted in the ranks of the Royal Fusiliers, and was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in the King’s (Liverpool) Regiment in February, 1915. He afterwards transferred to one of the tunnelling companies of the Royal Engineers and was promoted Lieutenant in, December, 1915, which rank he held at the time of his death.
He entered McGill University, Montreal, Canada, as a mining student, in 1908, and graduated in 1912; and the time that intervened between his graduation and the outbreak of the war he spent in research work on ore dressing at McGill University. Mr. Cooper was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1918.
