Rawlinson Tennant Bayliss died on May 4th, 1926, at the age of 70.
From 1872 to 1884 he was engaged as a civil engineer on railway construction in England and elsewhere.
In 1884 he was appointed general manager of the Montana Company, Ltd., and the Montana Mining Company, Ltd., of Marysville, Montana, U.S.A., with the late John Darlington as mining adviser, and converted the properties into profitable undertakings. He engaged in general practice a mining engineer at the same time. Some years later he became associated as joint managing director with the Exploration Co., Ltd., after the days when the late Hamilton Smith controlled its destinies, and up to his death was still chairman of the company, a position he had held for many years. The company became chiefly identified with mining interests in Mexico and Colorado, of which the El Oro and Tomboy mines are perhaps the best known.
Mr. Bayliss was elected a Member of the Institution in 1894 and was for many years a Member of Council.
