The history, geology and recent excavation work on the site of the Bay Mine is presented.
The volume details artefact’s that have come to light in the investigation of this fascinating working, together with an outline of historical developments in the draining of this inordinary wet Lead Mine, situated in the remote Lowther Hills of Scotland.
The area has long attracted metal miners due to its hidden and extensive deposits of Galena which occur here. The ore was also smelted near the Bay site.
