The Rock Vein Pit (ST 2152 9140) was located 400 feet south-east of Risca Colliery and 400 feet west of the Jack-y-North Pit. The ownership of this colliery is as with the Black Vein Colliery. The two shafts of this pit were sunk to a depth of 229 feet to the No.2 Rhondda (Little Rock) seam in 1822 and worked this seam at a section of 42 inches until closure in 1878.
