
Rishton Colliery

Shaft sinking to the Lower Mountain Mine was begun here by P.W. Pickup Ltd on November 29th 1884. That company worked until 1941, when coal getting stopped.
The NCB used the mine as a pumping Station between 1955 and 1970.
