Crynant, Dulais Valley (801060)
Also called Crynant Mountain or Jebb’s. This was a level that was owned by the Crynant Colliery Company in 1927/43 when it employed 131 men while in 1938 it employed 124 men. It was owned by Evans and Bevan and is listed in 1943/5 as being managed by R.J. Powell and employed 77 men underground working the No.2 Rhondda seam and 28 on the surface.
It was listed as working the Ynisarwed (No.2 Rhondda) seam under the control of the National Coal Board in 1947 when it employed 26 men on the surface, and 94 men underground with the manager being R.J. Powell. It employed 127 men in 1950, and 86 men producing 29,193 tons of coal p.a. when closed in March 1956.
