Godfrey Louis Wyatt died of wounds at the Dardanelles on May 24th, 1915, whilst serving as a Lieutenant in the Lancashire Fusiliers. Previous to going to the Dardanelles, he had been on active service with his regiment in Egypt.
He was 33 years of age and commenced his professional career with the Goldfields of Venezuela, Ltd., in 1907, with which company he was engaged as amalgamator, and for a time as assayer. Later he assisted in the erection of a new milling plant at the mine and on its completion was placed in charge of it.
In March, 1910, he came to England on leave, returning a few months afterwards to the same property as mill manager, and subsequently he took charge of the other surface work as well. He left the employ of the company early in 1912, and after spending a few months in England proceeded to Northern Nigeria as assistant and prospector to the Budurna Tin Mines, Ltd. On the expiration of his agreement, he again returned to England and then obtained a similar appointment with the Jantar Nigeria Tin Mines, Ltd., leaving to take up his duties in Nigeria in February, 1914. The two latter engagements were held under the same firm.
Mr. Wyatt was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1914.
