Charles Douglas Wheeler was killed by lightning in Northern Nigeria on June 7th, 1944, at the age of 22.
He entered the Royal School of Mines in 1939 and gained a first-class A.R.S.M. in Mining Geology in 1942. In the following year he went to Northern Nigeria, and was employed by the Kaduna. Syndicate, Ltd.
Mr. Wheeler was elected to Studentship of the Institution in 1941.
