Henry Trench de W. Waller died on November 28th, 1911, as the result of an accident.
He studied chemistry at the Ballarat School of Mines, Victoria, and obtained a First Class Associateship in Metallurgy at the Royal School of Mines. From 1897 to 1900 he was public assayer and analyst at Zeehan, Tasmania, and from 1897 to 1902 also held the post of instructor in metallurgical chemistry and surveying at the Zeehan School of Mines. During the last 18 months of that period he was Director of the School.
In 1905 and 1906 he was engaged with copper mining companies in California, and in 1907 visited England for a few months. In 1908 he went to South America, where he held an appointment on the Marmato Mines, Republic of Colombia. Subsequently he entered into an engagement with the Famatina Development Co. at Chilecito, in the Argentine Republic. It was then that his death occurred. On the night of November 25th, 1911, he had returned from a ride and had reached the stables when his mule shied; he was thrown and dragged a short distance by the reins, receiving such injuries as to cause unconsciousness, from which he never recovered.
Mr. Waller was elected a Member of the Institution in 1903.
