George Dallas Baird Turner died in Montana, U.S.A., early in 1927, at the age of 57.
Though of Scottish parentage he became a citizen of the U.S.A. at a comparatively early date, and the greater part of his career was spent on the North American continent. From 1889 to 1893 he was employed as constructing engineer by the Anaconda Copper Mining Co., after which period he occupied upwards of three years in developing gold prospects in Montana.
From 1896 to 1900 he acted as consulting engineer and manager of the Thompson Mining Co., and the West Kootenay B.C. Mining and Exploration Co., British Columbia. Returning to the United States, he was for about eight years consulting engineer and manager of the Red Bluff Mining Co., Montana, and the West Quincy Mining Co., Utah.
From 1908 he was almost entirely occupied in a consultative capacity, chiefly in America; though for some time he had an office in London.
Mr. Turner was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1911.
