Martin Thomas Taylor died in Camborne, Cornwall, on October 8th, 1938, at the age of 68.
He was born in Victoria, Australia, and in 1900 entered the service of Bewick, Moreing & Co. by whom he was employed in various capacities until 1906 when he was appointed superintendent of the Loddon Valley Goldfields, Ltd., in Victoria, and later of the Prentice & Southern Deep Leads Company.
In 1910 he was made underground manager of the Gt. Fitzroy Gold & Copper Mines, at Mt. Chalmers, Queensland, and after three years there he came to England as superintendent of the Phœnix Tin Mines in Cornwall. This was followed by his appointment as manager of East Pool and Agar, Ltd., where he remained until 1935, when he visited various countries on examination work, including Australia, S. Africa, the Rhodesias, Kenya, Uganda, and British Guiana. He was the author of a paper on the East Pool & Agar mines which was published in the Transactions (vol. xxxvii).
Mr. Taylor was elected to Membership of the Institution in 1916.
