Robert Cecil Stables was killed in action in Mesopotamia on May 13th, 1917, while serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in a Sappers and Miners Company of the Indian Army. He was 24 years of age and a graduate of Camborne School of Mines.
After a successful college career, he was selected for one of the Institution Post-Graduate Courses; and in 1913, he proceeded to South Africa, where he took his course with the Witwatersrand Gold Mining Co., Ltd. He returned to England in 1916 and speedily joined the Army and was sent out to India and afterwards to Mesopotamia.
Mr. Stables was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1911.
