Henry George Scott died at sea, on his way home from New Zealand, in February, 1935, at the age of 59.
He entered the Royal School of Mines in 1893 and graduated with the Associateship in 1896, and immediately on completion of his course he was appointed to the Royal Department of Mines and geology of Siam, of which he was made director in 1899. He held the post for eight years and then resigned his position to become general manager of the Siamese Tin Syndicate. He took an important part in the development of the company’s affairs, not only in Siam but in Tasmania, where they had dredging interests in the Ringarooma district.
For the last seven years of his life he was the managing director of the Siamese Tin Syndicate in the East, and he had concluded a trip which included Siam, Tasmania and New Zealand, and was on his way to England via Panama at the time of his death.
Mr. Scott was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1895, and was transferred to Associateship in 1906.
