Christian Charles Augustus Scott died on August 11th, 1935, at the age of 62.
From 1889 to 1891 he attended courses at the Royal School of Mines and the Camborne Mining School and in 1892 he went to Peru as assayer with the Caylloma Silver Mining Company. In 1893 he transferred in the same capacity to the Cavancha Reduction Works, Chile, where he continued to work until his appointment as engineer to the Atahualpa gold mines in that country.
In 1898 he returned to England, and after taking a course in cyaniding at King’s College, London, was sent to West Africa to take charge temporarily of the Gold Reefs of West Africa, Ltd. In the following year he returned to South America, as mine agent for the Frontino and Bolivia Gold Mining Co., Ltd., in Colombia, and in 1901 he was appointed general manager in Colombia of the Churiman Exploration Syndicate, Ltd. He retained this post for three years, and in 1904 he was appointed to act in a similar capacity for the Santa Isabel United Gold Mines, Ltd., also in Colombia.
In 1908 he started practice as a consulting engineer, and his work was mainly in Colombia. He became interested in the El Cerro gold mine in the Province of Antioquia, and was manager of the Carmen Valley Gold Mines, Ltd., which acquired the mine in 1925.
Mr. Scott was elected a Member of the Institution in 1908.
