Robert M. Raymond died in New York, on August 23rd, 1928, at the age of 70.
His early experience was in the United States, and in 1889-90 he was assistant superintendent of the Great Falls Silver Smelter, Montana. For five years subsequently he was manager of the Diamond Gold Mining Co., Neihart, also in Montana.
ln 1895 he was appointed general manager of the Harquahala Gold Mining Co., Arizona, and in the following year went to Western Australia for the same company and was also general manager of the Brownhill Proprietary, the Norseman and the Vale Coolgardie gold mines.
Five or six years later he went to Mexico to take charge of the El Oro Mining Co., Ltd., in the capacity of manager, and subsequently as consulting engineer. In 1913 he was associated with the Exploration Co., Ltd., of New York, and so continued for many years, until in 1924 he was appointed Professor of Mining at Columbia University, New York, U.S.A.
Mr. Raymond was elected a Member of the Institution in 1898.
