Edward Valentine Peters was killed by Japanese troops during the occupation of Thailand in 1942, at the age of 51.
He studied engineering at the Brighton Technical School from 1907 to 1909, and then attended a two-year course at the Redruth School of Mines, where he obtained a first class diploma. In 1912 he was employed as mining assistant by the Bundi Tin Mining Syndicate at Kemaman, Trengganu, Malaya, and four years later was transferred to the position of acting manager at the Sungei Ayam Tin Mines, Kernaman, where he became full manager in 1917. Subsequently he took up an appointment at Pontianak, West Borneo, and at the time of his death was employed by Thailand Tin Mines, Ltd., at the Penyok mine, South Thailand.
Mr. Peters was elected a Student of the Institution in 1913, and was transferred to Associateship in 1919.
