Charles Henry Oliver died at Hove on January 7th, 1918, aged 36 years.
After working in the gold mines of the Rand for about a year, he went to West Africa in 1906, and for four years worked as a miner with the Tarkwa Mining and Exploration Co., Ltd., and also with the Abosso Gold Mining Co., Ltd. The experience he thus gained enabled him to undertake prospecting work for the West African Trust, Ltd., and subsequently to fill the position of mine captain to the same company. In 1913 he was engaged by the Abbontiakoon Gold Mining Co., Ltd., as shift boss and held this post until the latter part of 1916.
Mr. Oliver was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1912, and was transferred to Associateship in 1914.
