John Morgan died on December 13th, 1934, at the age 70.
The whole of his professional life was spent in Australia and dated from 1687, when he was appointed manager of the Homeward Bound Mine, Croydon, Queensland. Then onwards he was successively manager of the No.1 North True Blue and Mark Twain, the Norseman, and Guest Mines, the two last named being in Western Australia.
After a brief prospecting expedition in the Nile Valley, Egypt, in 1902, he returned to Australia and became manager of the Burbank Birthday Gift, the South Kalgurli, and the Oroya Brownhill mines. His association with the South Kalgurli mine extended over 25 years, for some part of which he acted as consulting engineer.
Mr. Morgan was elected a Member of the Institution in 1913.
