George Herbert Milton was killed in action in France on October 25th, 1916. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery, and was 29 years of age.
During the years 1907 and 1908 he studied at Camborne School of Mines and then went to the Republic of Colombia, where for three years he acted as surveyor to the Frontino and Bolivia Gold Mining Co., Ltd. In 1913 he went to Bolivia to take up an appointment under Messrs. Aramayo, Francke & Co., and returning to England a few months later, he obtained an engagement with the Ropp Tin, Ltd., at Naraguta, Northern Nigeria, which he held for about 18 months. He came home in the autumn of 1915 and joined H.M. Forces before the end of the year.
Mr. Milton was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1911.
