Charles B. Lessner died in 1952 at Carril, Spain, at the age of 72.
He was educated in London and trained professionally at London technical colleges from 1897 to 1901, at the same time working for two years from 1899 as assistant to the late Mr. George T. Holloway, consulting metallurgist, London. From 1901 to 1902 he held the post of metallurgical engineer to the Kai Syndicate, Gold Coast Colony, and in 1902 went to Spain on taking up the appointment of manager of the Carril Electro-magnetic separation works of San Finx Tin Mines, Ltd., and metallurgical chemist to the company. He remained at Carril throughout his career, for some time working as co-manager of nearby mines and also as metallurgist for Angelita mines, Silleda.
Mr. Lessner was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1899 and was transferred to Associate Membership in 1905, and to Membership in 1910. He was also a member of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, of the Faraday Society and of the Chemical Society.
