Cecil Ernest Jordan is reported to have died on May 7th, 1943, at the Changi camp for civilian internees, Singapore, at the age of 56.
He received his technical training at Henderson’s School of Mining, Truro, and for a year was a member of the school staff. In 1913 he was appointed general assistant with the Central Lafon Tinfields of Nigeria, Ltd., but returned to England in August, 1914, and was engaged on work in Cornwall until the end of 1915.
He then went to Burma, and was engaged on various wolfram properties until 1920, when he returned to England. From 1923 until 1937 he worked in Africa, mainly as prospector in the Gold Coast, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanganyika Territory, and French Morocco. In 1937 he was appointed manager of the Bruseh gold mine, Pidor Perak, F.M.S., and in the following year was engaged by Mr. J.B. David, of Singapore, as managing engineer on a gold property.
Mr. Jordan was elected a Student of the Institution in 1913, and was transferred to Associateship in 1918.
