Claude Francis Spurrell Jameson died at Kuala Lumpur, Federated Malay States, on March 28th, 1941, at the age of 48.
He entered the Camborne School of Mines in 1909, and on completion of his course in 1913, he was engaged for about eight months in underground mining at South Crofty mine.
On the outbreak of war in August, 1914, he enlisted in the London Scottish, and went to France in November of that year. He received a commission in the Tunnelling Companies of the R.E., and was gazetted Captain on January 31st, 1916. From April, 1918, he commanded the 284 A.T. Coy., R.E., until the conclusion of hostilities.
In 1919, he received an appointment as Inspector of Mines under the Federated Malay States Mines Department, at Ulu Selangor, Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur respectively. In 1938 he was Inspector of Mines to Johore State, and at the time of his death he was Acting Chief Inspector of Mines, Federated Malay States.
Captain Jameson was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1919, and was elected an Associate in 1924.
