John Stanley James died in January, 1909.
He was actively engaged in mining for 37 years, and from 1890 to 1895 he acted as Assistant General Manager of the Rio Tinto Mines, Spain. He was afterwards engaged in inspecting and reporting on mining properties in various parts of the world, and from 1898 to the time of his death he practised as a Consulting Mining Engineer in London. He was a Director of the Canadian Northern Exploration Company.
Mr. James was elected a Member of the Institution in 1899.
