Philip Lawrence Foster died in New York, U.S.A., on November 15th, 1932.
He graduated at the McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 1882, and for the next five years was engaged as a constructional engineer on the Canadian Pacific Ry. and other railroads in Canada and the United States.
From 1887 to 1892 he worked on various mines in the United States and then acted as consulting engineer to Mr. J.B. Haggin’s group of interests and to the Consolidated Goldfields of New Zealand. From 1898 he was the general manager of El Oro Mining & Railway Co., Ltd.,
in Mexico, and subsequently transferred his activities to New York.
Mr. Foster was elected a Member of the Institution in 1901.
