James Edward Ferguson died on December 14th, 1924, at Mundesley-on-Sea, after an illness of some months’ duration.
He was articled to the late Mr. Edward Riley in August, 1889, and on completion of his articles acted as one of Mr. Biley’s assistants in various capacities until 1898, part of the time in London and latterly in charge of the laboratory of the Iron Ore Mines of Elba. In 1898 he was admitted to Fellowship of the Chemical Society of London, and on his return to Elba acted for some months as representative of Messrs. H. Dorner & Co., Ltd. Returning to London, he started in practice as a metallurgical and consulting chemist, at the same time acting as a chemist and adviser to Messrs. Dorner until 1908. He was engaged in practice in the City for 26 years.
Mr. Ferguson was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1911.
