Suraj Prakash Dandona died in India on 2nd October, 1958, at the age of 54.
He received his professional training in the Department of Mining and Metallurgy, Benares Hindu University, from 1924 and obtained the B.Sc. degree in 1927. He did practical work during these years at the Jharia coalfield and Kujama collieries and Ooregum gold mine, and in May, 1927, joined Ooregum Gold Mining Co. of India, Ltd., as assistant surveyor and sampler.
Some five years later Mr. Dandona worked for a short period at Maji-ya-Moto gold mines, Musoma, Tanganyika Territory, before returning to India in 1933 to join the inspectorate of works in the Punjab. He resumed work on the Kolar Gold Field a few years later at Champion Reefs, and in 1950 rose to the position of chief surveyor of Champion Reef mine, Kolar Gold Mining Undertaking.
Mr. Dandona was elected to Studentship of the Institution in 1926, and was transferred to Associate Membership in 1930.
