Colin St. George Campbell was reported ‘missing’ while making a reconnaissance over Tournai, Belgium, on April 6th, 1917. He was a Lieutenant in the Royal Flying Corps, and was aged 34 at the date of his presumed death.

He was a graduate of the McGill University, Montreal, Canada, from 1900 to 1904, when he received the degree of B.Sc.

Shortly after leaving the University he became a partner in the firm of Campbell & Deyell, Mining Engineers, Assayers, and Ore Samplers, at Cobalt, and was largely responsible for the design and construction of a sampler bearing the firm’s name. In 1909 he was appointed consulting engineer, and in 1912 general manager of the firm, which owned a large sampling works suitable for dealing with high-grade silver ores in car-load-lots.

Mr. Campbell was elected a Member of the Institution in 1915.
