John Vereker Bindon and his companion, Mr. G.P. Gamble, were both accidentally killed at Idwal Slabs, a recognized rock-climb in the Glyder Mountains, North Wales, on January 28th, 1943.
Mr. Bindon, who was 22 years of age, graduated from the Royal School of Mines with an Associateship in Mining in 1942. He then entered the Army and was on leave at the time of the accident.
He was elected a Student of the Institution in 1942.
