Sapper Richard John Bennett, Royal Engineers, was killed on active service on April 24th, 1944, at the age of 23.
He was educated at Truro School, Cornwall, and entered the Camborne School of Mines in 1937, finishing his course in the summer of 1940.
He then volunteered for the Army and was accepted in September, 1940, for the Royal Engineers. He was badly wounded during the Tunisian campaign, but recovered, and returned to England, where he met his death on the Norfolk coasts. He was elected a Student of the Institution in 1940.
