Peter Theobold Barnett was fatally gassed in a prospecting pit in Northern Rhodesia on January 27th, 1937, at the age of 23.
He was educated at Oundle School, and in 1931 entered Birmingham University, from which he graduated in 1934 with an Honours B.Sc. in mining.
In November, 1934, he was engaged by the Roan Antelope Copper Mines, Ltd., Northern Rhodesia, and in 1935 he joined the staff of Luiri Gold Areas, Ltd., where he was employed at the time of his death.
Mr. Barnett was elected a Student of the Institution in 1932.
