Lieutenant Jack Kitley Barnard was killed in action in N.W. Europe in October, 1944, at the age of 24.
He entered the Royal School of Mines in 1937 and obtained a first-class A.R.S.M. in mining and the London B.Sc. (Engineering) in 1941. He then took up an appointment with Messrs J. Cochran & Co., at Wolverley, Worcs., and in 1942 he was employed by Geevor Tin Mines, Ltd., Cornwall.
He left in 1943 to join the Royal Engineers and obtained his commission in 1944.
He was elected to Studentship of the Institution in 1940.
