Gordon Trezise Baker died at his home in Shropshire on December 16th, 1925, from the effects of bacterial endocarditis contracted in Canada, at the age of 27.
In 1919 he entered for the full time diploma course at Wigan Mining College, in both coal and ore mining, obtaining the 1st Class Diploma with distinctions in geology and assaying in 1922. He also secured the external degree, with Honours, of B.Sc. at London University.
After about a year spent in acquiring practical experience with the Wigan Coal & Iron Co., Ltd., he went to Canada and after a few months spent in the office of a firm of mining engineers and chemists he joined the staff of the Vipond Consolidated Mines, Ltd., at first in then mill, then as assayer and assistant engineer, in which capacity he was working when invalided home.
Mr. Baker was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1922.
