We are please to have been given permission to reproduce here, part of Jack Gale’s autobiography, relating to the time he was employed at Middleton Broom Colliery, Leeds, from 1951 to 1959. I really enjoyed reading the pages from A Miner’s life in the 1950s I found them riveting, at times, one can almost smell the scenes described!
